Description of JET 708300K JWTS-10CW2-JF 10-Inch Right Tilt 1-1/2 Horsepower Contractor Saw with 30-Inch JETfence and 2 Cast Iron Wings, 115/230-Volt 1 PhaseThe two precision-ground, cast-iron wings set this saw apart from average contractor-style saws with steel wings. Heavy-duty cast-iron trunnions support the sealed ball-bearings' blade arbor housing for a smooth performance with minimal vibration. JET also uses totally enclosed fan-cooled motors, preventing overheating and dust infiltration and resulting in longer motor life and less risk of a fire hazard than with open motor housing. The stand for this saw is made of a tougher-gauge metal and has a 4-inch dust port for easy connection to a dust collector. Another user-friendly feature is the quick-connect electrical plug right at the saw, meaning you don't have to search out the wall socket prior to every blade change. JET has also located the on/off switch at the top left for easy access when a quick shutdown is required. A change in the hole pattern on the fence rails means lefties can now shift the set to their preferences. The fit, finish, and use of a more durable powder coating instead of paint will make a proud owner of every user--from the beginner who wants to learn with confidence to the seasoned pro who doesn't have space for a full-size cabinet saw. --Nancy Gleason
Tools and Hardware Reviews of JET 708300K JWTS-10CW2-JF 10-Inch Right Tilt 1-1/2 Horsepower Contractor Saw with 30-Inch JETfence and 2 Cast Iron Wings, 115/230-Volt 1 PhaseCustomer Review: Great saw for the money Summary: 4 StarsI feel that the Jet JWTS-10CW2-JF is a darn good saw for the home woodshop. I upgraded from a bench-top saw to this one, so I can't say I've had years of experience with table saws. However, this saw is smooth, has cut everything I've fed it with no hesitation, and is very accurate.
The saw arrives in two boxes, one for the saw/stand, and one for the jet fence. Unlike the previous reviewer, I wasn't missing any hardware from the fence box. In fact I had everything I needed except for one hex screw which I was lucky enough to have on hand. Assembly wasn't hard at all, it went together easily within a few hours by myself. The blade was aligned to the miter slots out of the box, and it was simple to square the table extensions. The splitter/guard assembly took a bit more adjustment, but wasn't difficult to align.
Cutting wood with this saw is a dream compared to what I had. The cuts are very accurate, and there is little or no binding or burning. I think the older models of this saw came with a blade because other reviewers have mentioned one, but mine didn't. I bought a Freud multi purpose think kerf blade. There have been complaints about the jet fence, which I now appreciate. It's not something that can't be worked around, but it does wander around a bit during lock down. It seems there's a little play between full release and full down. You can work with it if you lock it down partially, tweak where you want it, then lock it down all the way. You shouldn't have to do that, but it works for the money.
Overall I'm very happy with the saw. If there were a negative aspect to it, it'd be the difficulty in quickly removing the blade guard. If you need to cut a dado or kerf, you have to loosen 2 bolts and pull the table insert. Seriously not a big deal, I'm sure most other saws in this class are the same. Unfortunately when you replace it you have to realign it again. Would've been cool if Jet devised some kind of quick release mechanism. Regardless, I would recommend this saw to anyone, I'm very satisfied.
